After almost 3,000 km of some of central Queensland toughest roads (and creek beds..) ACPET’s entry in this year's Variety Bash arrived safely in Port Douglas.

The trek this year took in Gympie, Emerald, Charters Towers, Lake Fairbairn, Innisfail and Lake Dunn before winding through the ranges and re-entering the coast through Kuranda.

The final crew looking after Daisy was ACPET Q’s Cassie Fitzgerald with Mark Smith and Peter Brooke from the Australian Trade College North Brisbane. Well done team.

The ACPET entry in this year’s Variety Bash has traversed half of Queensland since the commencement of this amazing charity event last Thursday.

If you are reading this on Monday morning, the ACPET crew will be departing Lake Barr in Central Queensland for Charters Towers, about half way to the end of this year’s Bash in Port Douglas

Day one was quite emotional with acknowledgements and presentations for children with disabilities. Fernvale and Kilcoy State Schools both hosted the cars on day one and were also recipients of a range of support and gifts from Bashers.

Day two en route to Biloela 'Daisy' had a mishap in crossing one of the many mountainous and muddy forest tracks ranges and slid into a rock outcrop that removed her protective bash plates. Thanks to the efforts of our accompanying technicians Mark Smith and Peter Brooke (photo) she was back on the road in less than thirty minutes with plates refixed.
